NBR Extensions & Process

Hi guys!

I just wanted to share my experience with the NBR extensions!

I am in LOVE with these extensions! They are so convenient and they look amazing!

First off, I want to say I did my research when it came to what extensions I wanted to get. I also researched a BUNCH of different salons and the reviews people left. I eventually came across Manisha with Ellis Hair Salon. She has a form on her website that you fill out to see if you are a good candidate for these kinds of extensions. (This was super helpful!) Plus she even has a phone consultation with you beforehand to answer any questions and to solidify that this is the write fit for you. She did such an amazing job making me feel comfortable and completely certain with my decision to go with her.

Once I got to the salon, she had the hair already picked out and ready to go. We took a before photo and then got right into it. She had the extensions in salon so I did not need to purchase them through another vendor. I decided on the 22" extensions but she has different lengths available, plus she can cut them to your preference. Manisha custom colored the extensions to match my hair. She touched up my color and gave my hair a trim. We chatted and I had a bunch of questions on the extensions and the maintenance required. She was very very knowledgable about NBR extensions. She has been to numerous trainings in California. She was the first person to be certified in Illinois! So she shared some important care tips with me.

  • Wash your hair about once a week

  • Use shampoo and conditioner with no sulfate

  • sleep in a braid

  • Use a wet brush!!

  • And obviously having them correctly put in makes a huge difference. Your extensions can last up to 6-8 months if properly cared for.

The entire process took a little over 5 hours. I barely even feel them in my hair. They don't hurt at all (I wore clip ins before so my head may be used to carrying more hair on my head). But they truly are so light for how much hair she put in. I got two wefts of hair. (Two rows). My hair felt a little tighter in the spots where the wefts were but that went away after a week.

I am so in love with these extensions I would 100% recommend. If you're in the Chicagoland area definitely check out Ellis Hair Salon. She truly is amazing!

As for styling, I curl them with a 1" curler and sometimes I use a wand. I found the curls hold better with the 1" curler. I have yet to straighten my extensions but I will let you know how that goes. You can definitely wear your hair up in a bun as well. Just be gentle putting it up and make sure to cover any wefts that decide to peak out.

If you have any other questions or need help with extension research I will def do my best to help you out!

Before and After

xoxo Alexandra xoxo
